On October 13th, Troopers were originally dispatched to a two vehicle crash on I-65 northbound lanes at the 225 mile marker. This is about 5 miles north of the Fair Oaks exit in Jasper County. Preliminary investigation shows that at around 7:20 p.m., a crash occurred between a Buick and a Hyundai Sonata being driven by 30 year old Andrew Tagli, of Mokena, IL. The Buick had become disabled prior to the crash due to it having lost the front driver’s side tire. The Buick was partially sticking out into the left lane when it was struck by the Hyundai being driven by Andrew Tagli. As a result of the impact, the Buick was pushed out of the roadway and the Hyundai spun, coming to a rest facing south in the northbound lanes. The driver of the Hyundai got out of the vehicle. Another vehicle, a Honda CRV, was traveling south when it struck Mr. Tagli as he stood outside his vehicle. Andrew Tagli was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jasper County Coroner. A passenger in Mr. Tagli’s vehicle, was airlifted to Christ Advocate Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. as a result of her injuries.
