The Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC), in partnership with the City of La Porte, the La Porte County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association and the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce the hiring of Angela Rose as the Downtown Coordinator in the City of La Porte.

Mrs. Rose grew up in La Porte and attended La Porte High School.  After graduating in 2009, she attended Ball State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and Development in 2013.  Furthering her education, she obtained a Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation from Ball State in 2014.  “Angela Rose’s experience and education will be a great asset to the City of La Porte.  Her education will undoubtedly bring new resources to our Downtown and we are excited to see her continue the great progress that has occurred in the area,” said Bert Cook, Executive Director of GLEDC.

“I am excited to help continue the growth and improvements we have seen in the downtown over the last several years and to be able to serve the community that inspired me to seek an education in urban planning and historic preservation,” said Angela Rose. Mrs. Rose, her husband Stephen and son Jude have recently moved back to La Porte after living at Fort Sill, OK.  Mrs. Rose enjoys woodworking and furniture making, do-it-yourself projects, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding, and hiking with her family and dog.

Mrs. Rose will be focused on growing opportunities in Downtown La Porte.  She will serve as the liaison between the downtown business community, local government and the resource providers who are investing in the area.  In addition, Mrs. Rose will also represent the La Porte Urban Enterprise Association, the La Porte Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce and the City of La Porte in some of their individual initiatives.

“I could not be prouder of the cooperation exemplified by the partnership of these five entities in funding this position.  Working together is the path to success and the Downtown Coordinator position is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when we act as a team,” said Mayor Mark Krentz.
