The LaPorte Police Department Statement On School Threat

“The LaPorte Police Department recently received information in regards to an alleged threat towards Handley School that we have been actively investigating.  At this point detectives from the LaPorte Police Department have no evidence to confirm that the alleged threat that occurred over a month ago was even made due to conflicting information. Thanks
to the cooperation from the alleged suspect’s family we have confirmed that the alleged suspect does not have possession of any guns like posted on social media and they are working with the LaPorte Police Department to resolve this situation. The LaPorte Community School Corporation and local law enforcement take reports like this serious and
we will continue to monitor any threats made towards schools. We would like to thank the LaPorte Community School Corporation along with the LaPorte County School Resource Officers for their continued help with keeping our schools safe. Please be assured that the department will continue to work hard to try and keep the community safe.”
