On Father’s Day Sunday, just before midnight, Porter County Sheriff’s Police, Lt. Edwards was on patrol in the area of US Highway 20 and Brummitt Road. He observed a van traveling eastbound on US Highway 20 traveling at a high rate of speed which was confirmed with his radar unit, 92 MPH in the 55 MPH marked speed zone.Edwards then turned around to catch up to the vehicle, at which point it briefly entered a parking lot, at 375 E US Highway 20. The vehicle then exited the lot and took off at a high rate of speed again. Edwards activated his emergency lights and the driver refused to stop. Edwards informed dispatch of the vehicle pursuit and gave chase which lasted approximately 24 minutes entering Michigan City and back into Beverly Shores.  At one point, Edwards observed a male driver operating the vehicle. During the pursuit, the driver disregarded every stop sign and stop light in Porter and LaPorte Counties.A LaPorte County Sheriff’s Deputy performed a PIT maneuver to end the chase.  The vehicle was disabled and four occupants were detained. The driver that exited was a female subject identified as 21 year old Tabitha Fox.  The male subject that Edwards had observed driving the vehicle earlier, was then seated in the backseat. He was identified as 44 year old Billy Jo Fox.  Tabitha later admitted she and her father, Billy Jo Fox, both operated the vehicle and were attempting to flee from Officers.  Both subjects were taken into custody, each being charged with Resisting Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving. The other occupants were released.  Agencies assisting the pursuit were Michigan City Police Department, LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, and Beverly Shores Police Department.
