On June 8th, the Criminal Investigations Division of the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office began conducting an investigation into the death of 15 year old Michael Kiger. The previous evening, Michael was involved in a disturbance with his biological brother, 21 Tyler M. Kiger, at a residence in the 2800 west block of CR 450 North. Michael was found unresponsive the morning of June 8th at a residence in La Porte.
As a result of information learned during the investigation, Detective Sergeant Adam Hannon testified in La Porte County Circuit Court at a probable cause hearing. Probable Cause was found and an arrest warrant was issued for Involuntary Manslaughter, for Tyler’s arrest. Tyler was taken into custody and arrested Tuesday. The investigation remains active awaiting final documentation pertaining to the investigation.
