La Porte County Family YMCA’s Childcare Center, located at 2510 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN is now able to enroll children up to the age of 12 years old in its Level 4, Paths to Quality, licensed childcare program. 30 new spots have been approved to open immediately by the State of Indiana.

The Level 4, Paths to Quality designation is a National Accreditation, which provides the “highest rated programs and have demonstrated a commitment to the highest level of professionalism in quality early care and education — achievement of a nationally recognized accreditation” as described by the State of Indiana.

“In this unique season, our Y and its staff are called to serve our community in unique ways. Our La Porte County Family YMCA has a 110 year history of adjusting our service delivery to meet large-scale community needs and this is just one of many ways we plan on supporting our community through these difficult days of “COVID-19”, shares Laurie A Halaska, CEO of the La Porte County Family YMCA. “I want to personally thank Stefanie Gurband, the YMCA’s Childcare Center Director, who initiated and worked with the State of Indiana to allow our Y this opportunity to help our community’s families in their search of quality childcare” Halaska added.
All families will be asked 4 critical questions prior to enrolling their children. These questions are:
1. Has the family traveled to a Level 3 region within the last two weeks: CDC travel recommendations.
2. Have a confirmed case of the virus.
3. Have a household member with a confirmed case of the virus.
4. Have or had any flu type symptoms in the last two weeks.
Please contact Stefanie Gurband, the YMCA Childcare Center Director at sgurband@lpymca.org or call 219.326.7646 for questions on how to register.
