Shootings: 900 Block of W 8th Street On Sunday March 22nd at 8:00 P.M., officers of the Michigan City Police Department were dispatched to 921 W. 8 th Street on the city’s west side for a report of shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers observed that a gun was fired into the residence through a window. Inside of the residence were a 34-year-old female and eight (8) children ranging from 1-16 years of age, none of which reported any injuries. Officers then collected evidence and obtained statements from witnesses. The investigation was then assigned to the Investigative Division for further follow-up. On Monday March 30th at 12:00 A.M., officers of the Michigan City Police Department were dispatched to the area of the 600 Block of W. 8 th Street from a report of shots being fired. Upon their arrival, officers began to hear multiple shots being fired to the west of their location. Officers were then immediately dispatched to 921 W. 8 th Street in reference to a drive-by shooting that had occurred. Officers arrived on scene and located three (3) subjects with non-life-threatening injuries. Two of the victim’s were transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Hospital for treatment and the third victim refused medical treatment at the scene. Officers collected evidence and obtained statements from all witnesses at the scene. Officers collected several spent shell casings from the scene. The investigation was then assigned to the Investigative Division for further follow-up. These incidents are isolated and there are no ongoing threats to members of the community. Chief Dion Campbell encourages anyone with information pertaining to these shooting incidents to please get that information to the police department by any means necessary.
