The City of La Porte said goodbye to one of its longest-serving employees this week, according to Mayor Tom Dermody.

After 41 years, Water Superintendent Todd Taylor retired Tuesday, June 30. Taylor took the position right after his graduation from Regis University and has served under 10 La Porte mayors. Dermody said his institutional knowledge and experience will be sincerely missed.

“Todd has been an incredible teacher and leader for not only the water department, but also for the rest of our team at City Hall,” Dermody said. “He’s championed countless projects during his many years at the helm and has been an invaluable asset to our La Porte team. Todd, thank you for your many years of service, and congratulations on your much-deserved retirement.”

Dermody said Taylor’s replacement will be announced in the coming days.
